Questions buyers ask

Where can I get historical flight delay data for US flights?

PlaneTrack has flight-by-flight data for every US airline departure since August 2026, from FAA SWIM: scheduled departure, actual take-off and landing times, and the delay beyond a normal taxi. A free sample shows the format; full history comes as a file, a daily feed or an API.

Can I check whether a specific flight was delayed?

Yes. For a flight number and date we can give the scheduled departure and the actual take-off and landing times, from FAA data and our own ADS-B positions. That is how claims teams verify a delay.

How do you define an on-time departure?

Within 15 minutes of schedule, the US DOT convention. FAA SWIM reports wheels-off time, so we subtract each airport's median taxi time first; normal taxiing is not counted as delay.

Is the data suitable for pricing parametric delay cover?

It gives on-time and 45-minute-plus delay rates by route, airport, airline and day, which is what delay pricing models use. Tell us the routes and we will send a free sample for them.
